E-PHCs are tailored to meet the demands of certain areas in India, where healthcare and doctors are not easily available and population of those areas are medically under-served. The target areas for putting up E-PHCs are mainly rural/semi-urban areas with a population of 20,000 or more and within a 20 Km radius from the hospitals. So, idea is to provide immediate and affordable healthcare to villagers in need and to stabilize the patient to certain extent in case the person needs further medical treatment, surgery or critical care.

e-PHCs are like creating bridge between the patient and the ultimate healthcare in hospitals for critical care and / or surgery cases, in case needed. E-PHCs aim to provide complete primary healthcare solution (including OPD consultation, diagnostic tests and medicines) from a single point. The e-PHCs will also have 12 in-patient beds for basic hospitalization and day care procedures and a labor room for safe deliveries. Each PHC is manned by one Ayush doctor, qualified nurses (GNM or ANM), Ward care person and Pharmacist, who operate the equipment and connect to the doctor digitally. The admission and treatment of “in patients (IPD)” will also be under the supervision of qualified MBBS doctor(s). The e-PHCs are a 1000 Sq. Ft pre-fabricated modular compact steel structure with a patients’ reception and registration area, doctors’ consultation area, Pharmacy and 12 beds for in patients, all under one roof. The units have adjacent toilet block. The units are solar powered, keeping in mind the issues of electricity in rural Indian states. The units wouldn’t have any “operation theatre’ for surgical procedures and any “Critical care unit”. Such patients are referred to the nearby Glocal Healthcare hospital or nearby other hospitals, in case Glocal Hospital is not around.

The project envisages setting-up of Pre-fabricated e-Phc's to ensure delivery of healthcare. The prefabricated model has 500 square feet of MS Steel structure with high grade PUF Panels.
This will include the installation of solar powered prefabricated modular structure and the use of a host of technologies from Telemedicine, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Automation and Point of Care technologies to ensure universal healthcare in a challenging environment.
